Sweet Summer Treat:

Candied Bacon Parfait

Candied Bacon
1 Package (12 oz.) Godshalls Turkey Bacon (Maple is even better)
1/3 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Cup Brown or Raw sugar

Real Caramel
1 Cup Sugar
6 Tablespoons Butter
½ Cup Heavy Cream
¼ cup water

Mom’s two Favorite Flavors of Ice Cream
Fancy Glasses (narrow for older kids or dad, wide opening (like a Martini glass) for younger kid prep)

First make the candied bacon by chopping all of the bacon down to ¼ inch or smaller pieces. Season with black pepper lightly. Put bacon bits into medium bowl with the brown sugar and fold until all bits are encrusted in brown sugar.
Spread evenly onto sprayed baking tray and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Prepare Caramel by assembling ingredients; you’ll need them all quickly next to the pan. First add the water to a 2 or 3 quart heated pan. When it reaches a boil slowly add sugar. Stir or whisk continuously so the sugar will not heat unevenly and burn. When the sugar reaches a melted point it will be amber. At this time add and melt in the butter in slices or cut down bits. As soon as the butter melts remove from heat and add cream whisking as you pour. When foaming dies down a bit, keep whisking to a smooth consistency. Use when cooled down but still warm (approximately 10 minutes)

Gently place a scoop of ice cream to bottom of glass (if you smudge the edges on the way in, wipe crean with a damp paper towel) add a heaping tablespoon of candied bacon bits and a tablespoon of caramel. Repeat with additional layers until crowned with a lovely round scoop and decorated with bacon, caramel, and a cherry
