Maple Bacon Donuts
1 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tbs unsalted butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a doughnut pan and set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
In a small pan over low heat, melt butter.
Once the water has evaporated the butter will quiet down and begin to brown.
When browned, remove from heat and and set aside to cool.
In a small bowl whisk together egg, buttermilk, and vanilla.
Add browned butter and whisk.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
Stir until no flour bits remain and all of the ingredients are well mixed.
Transfer batter into a plastic zip-lock bag. Cut the end with a pair of scissors and dispense batter into each doughnut mold about 3/4 full with batter.
Place in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
Once cooled, bake @ 400 until the bottoms are golden in color (6 minutes)
Maple Bacon Glaze:
6 strips Godshall’s Maple Turkey Bacon
1 cup confectioner’s sugar
2 tbs maple syrup
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbs light cream
Fry bacon to a nice crisp & dice very fine.
In medium bowl, mix the sugar with maple syrup and vanilla extract until sugar dissolves.
Slowly add light cream to thin out the glaze.
Spoon glaze over each doughnut.
While glaze is still wet, add the diced bacon on top of each doughnut.
