Another Sweet Bacon Treat:

Bacon Churros

6 slices of Godshall’s Turkey Bacon or Godshall’s Maple Bacon
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup butter, unsalted
1 Tablespoon of real vanilla extract
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
3 large eggs
Cinnamon and sugar to coat

Dice six slices of Godshall’s bacon into 1/4” pieces and brown in a skillet, turning often to ensure all pieces are cooked.

Remove to cool.

Mix sugar, butter, water, vanilla and salt in a pan. Bring to a boil for only a minute stirring often then reduce oven to low.

Gradually add flour, stirring continuously to mix smoothly.

Continue low heat for another 2 minutes.

Remove and let cool 10-15 minutes at room temperature.

Add eggs, mixing well between each egg added.

Blend in diced bacon mixing until well distributed throughout the batter

Scoop prepared batter into a pastry bag with a serrated tip.

Squeeze out 3-4 inch lengths into heated oil (350 degrees).

Fry until light golden brown, remove from oil, then toss in cinnamon with or without fine granular sugar. (confectioner’s sugar may seem preferable but will get gummy on contact with residual oil.)

Vanilla Dip

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup of milk
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch.

Whisk in the milk, stirring until blended.

Bring mixture to a low boil and continue to cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and mix in the butter and vanilla.

Serve warm.
