Vintage Recipe with a Bacon Twist


  • 1/2 Cup GODSHALL'S Turkey Bacon (Diced and Candied)
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar (Granulated)
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 Cup Flour
  • 1 Teaspoons Salt
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 Teaspoons Ginger (Ground)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon (Ground)
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cloves (Ground)


  1. Candied Bacon;
    • Melt one tablespoon of butter, then add the bacon.
    • Add one heaping teaspoon of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
    • Stir until bacon glistens and remove to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugars and molasses. Mix well.
  3. Next, add egg and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
  5. Chill for a few hours or overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.
  7. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or coat with non-stick spray.
  8. Put the 1/4 cup sugar in a bowl. Form the dough into balls, drop into the sugar. Roll to coat and place apart on the baking sheets.
  9. Bake approx. 5-7 minutes and remove. Dough should have baked into a disk shape. Press a tablespoon of candied bacon on each cookie and lightly press in with broad spatula.
  10. Bake for approx. 6+ minutes.
  11. Allow time to cool on a rack.
