Vintage Recipe with a Bacon Twist
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup GODSHALL'S Turkey Bacon (Diced and Candied)
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 3/4 Cup Sugar (Granulated)
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
- 1/4 Cup Molasses
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 Cup Flour
- 1 Teaspoons Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
- 2 Teaspoons Ginger (Ground)
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon (Ground)
- 1/4 Teaspoon Cloves (Ground)
Instructions:
- Candied Bacon;
- Melt one tablespoon of butter, then add the bacon.
- Add one heaping teaspoon of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Stir until bacon glistens and remove to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugars and molasses. Mix well.
- Next, add egg and vanilla. Mix well.
- Stir in flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
- Chill for a few hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper or coat with non-stick spray.
- Put the 1/4 cup sugar in a bowl. Form the dough into balls, drop into the sugar. Roll to coat and place apart on the baking sheets.
- Bake approx. 5-7 minutes and remove. Dough should have baked into a disk shape. Press a tablespoon of candied bacon on each cookie and lightly press in with broad spatula.
- Bake for approx. 6+ minutes.
- Allow time to cool on a rack.
