Job Title: 1st Shift Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Lebanon Palnt

 Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

 Job purpose

Preventative maintenance, repairing, installing, processing and packaging equipment, systems and utilities.

  • Responsible for efficiently ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas, or air required for operations.

Duties and responsibilities-                                                                                                                                        

Primary job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for equipment inspection, maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance for new machinery and adapting existing processes.
  • Conduct ongoing preventative visual inspections of machinery and load-handling equipment and provide all scheduled/non-scheduled maintenance and repair as required.
  • Provide on-call repair service for machinery.
  • Order and keep track on machine parts as necessary.
  • Provide all mechanical/technical applications to adapt and install new production equipment for operations; includes pre-consideration of electrical, computer, layout and mechanical applications.
  • Read, study and review manuals and relevant literature to stay current on new equipment and the updating of existing equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance reports and other documents to communicate status of equipment and action required for effective operation of production equipment.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Follow all applicable Safety and Health policies and practices and informs immediate supervisor about unsafe or unhealthy conditions observed in the workplace.
  • Consult with immediate supervisor concerning issues, unusual problems or developments and clarification on direction and scope of efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications required to successfully perform the job include:

  • High School or GED equivalent and minimum of 3 years degree in applied science and/or combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work with the maintenance computer system for work order processing and completion.
  • Ability and willingness to work in plant environment under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high work and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  •  Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulics skills are required.
  • Fabrication skills, including machining and welding with TIG/MIG are a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Moderate hand/wrist flexion and gripping pressure.
  • The maintenance mechanic must be able to work any shift, extended hours when required, a schedule which can include alternating weekends, and in an environment that is wet /damp and temperatures vary from hot to cold.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and function effectively in a demanding environment
  • Ability to interact effectively with technicians, supervisors and members of other trades.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted).
  • Ability to perform physical activities bending, standing, climbing or walking.
  • Able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
  •  Able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to heavy machinery and other environmental hazards in both indoor and outdoor.
