Bacon Dim Sum
16 oz Raw deveined shrimp
6 slices of Godshall’s Turkey Bacon, cooked and chopped coarsely
1 inch section of Ginger root, grated
2 1/2 cups of bean sprouts chopped coarsely
1 small bunch of scallions (4 or 5) chopped coarsely
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg beaten
Pinch of salt
Quantity of sunflower oil for deep frying
Soy, Gyoza, sweet chilli, or hoisen sauce for dipping
Place shrimp, turkey bacon, ginger, bean sprouts, and scallions into food processor and process until finely chopped and blended. Be sure to pause and scrape down sides at least once to achieve uniform consistency.
Transfer mixture to a bowl and add flour, baking powder, egg and salt. mix by hand until a stiff mixture forms. (add a teaspoon of water only if needed)
Heat oil in deep fryer or large deep pan to 350-375F.
While oil heats, shape mixture into walnut shell sized balls when proper temperature is achieved, deep fry balls in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with favored dips.
