Godshall's Quality Meats is an employee-owned company producing premium smoked meat products for the US and international markets located in Telford, PA.
Job Purpose
The FSQA Supervisor is part of the plant-specific management team. Responsible for the direct supervision of all FSQA technicians and implementation of all FSQA programs and policies. This team member will directly assist the FSQA Assistant Manager or Manager in all aspects of monitoring and verification activities for company HACCP, SQF, and other food safety and quality programs. In addition, this team member may be assigned to lead specialized projects, laboratory analysis and activities, troubleshooting, and provide support to FSQA, R&D, and production senior management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary job duties and responsibilities include:
- Implement company FSQA programs and policies including monitoring and verification activities related to HACCP, SQF, and other customer and internal food safety and quality programs.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of all FSQA technicians and in-plant sanitation employees as applicable, including employee development, training, performance, and well-being.
- Continuously demonstrate operational leadership to FSQA technicians and in-plant sanitation employees as applicable, with a continuous focus on employee development, training, and mentorship.
- Assist the FSQA Assistant Manager or Manager, as needed, and assume their duties when absent.
- Lead specialized projects or additional FSQA duties as requested by FSQA senior management.
- Assist in the coordination of customer-required laboratory analysis activities and documentation.
- Assist in the implementation of environmental and product testing programs.
- Lead and/or assist in operations deviation investigations, customer complaint response, audit preparation and response, and regulatory reviews or actions.

Qualifications
This team member must have a competent level of knowledge and understanding of food safety and quality assurance concepts and programs. This team member must have demonstrated integrity, effective communication skills, an ability to maintain focus and composure in stressful situations. This team member must have demonstrated an ability to lead, manage, motivate, and train personnel.
Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job include:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree in the biological, agricultural sciences, or related field, preferred.
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Successfully completed more than 3 years of employment with the FSQA department, held the FSQA Senior Technician position for 12 months, or have obtained commensurate education and experience in the FSQA field outside of the company.
- Have previous experience or demonstrated ability to perform direct employee supervision.
- Demonstrate a competent level of understanding in HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety and quality programs.
- Have strong communication and leadership skills.
- Have high competence in using computers and new software.
Working Conditions
Exposure to an environment that is wet, very humid and undergoes extreme temperature changes, from very hot to very cold. Fast-paced environment working with heavy meat processing equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Must be able to perform extensive walking and standing throughout the shift on a daily basis.
- Frequent use of hands to handle paperwork.
